Role Description
The Environmental Acoustics Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Perth, WA. You will deliver environmental noise and vibration consulting assignments from initial scoping through to fieldwork, assessment, reporting and client presentation. The role combines technical work, project management and client liaison, with the opportunity to contribute to business development and mentor less-experienced team members.
Key responsibilities
- Planning and undertaking environmental noise and vibration surveys, monitoring programs and compliance assessments
- Operating and managing sound and vibration measurement equipment
- Analysing and interpreting monitoring data
- Preparing environmental noise and vibration impact assessments
- Developing and reviewing computer noise models and predictions
- Assessing industrial, resources, infrastructure, transport, commercial and development proposals
- Investigating noise and vibration issues and recommending practical mitigation and management measures
- Interpreting applicable legislation, policies, guidelines and standards
- Preparing clear, accurate and defensible technical reports
- Liaising with clients, regulators, local authorities and other project stakeholders
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Acoustic and Environmental Noise, with experience assessing, modeling, and interpreting noise impacts in urban and industrial environments.
- Skills in Architectural Acoustics, including building acoustics design, room treatment, and soundproofing strategies for studios, music rooms, and commercial spaces.
- Knowledge of Vibration Control principles, with the ability to assess vibration sources and recommend practical mitigation measures.
- Proficient Report Writing skills, capable of producing clear, accurate, and compliant technical reports for councils, regulators, and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with acoustic measurement tools, software for noise modeling and analysis, and relevant Australian standards and guidelines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialist stakeholders.
- Capability to work safely on-site, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
