ACA staff undertook the environmental noise assessment for the proposed expansion of the Kooragang Island Ammonium Nitrate processing plant site
The noise study was carried out as part of the project’s Environmental Impact Assessment. The works involved undertaking a full noise monitoring inventory of the site, and long-term monitoring of existing background noise levels at residential areas surrounding the site. The relative noise effects with respect to the expansion was assessed through the development of a 3D noise model of the site including the existing and proposed noise sources with consideration to a range of prevailing meteorological conditions.
